FBG cascaded with Michelson based on MCF for simultaneous measurement of refractive index and temperature

View through CrossRef
A hybrid optical fiber sensor by fiber Bragg grating (FBG) cascaded with Michelson interference is proposed. By combining a FBG in single mode fiber (SMF) with a Michelson interferometer in multi-core fiber (MCF), we fabricate the sensor by FBG cascaded with Michelson. This hybrid fiber sensor can achieve the simultaneous measurement of refractive index and temperature by monitoring the reflection spectra of FBG and Michelson interferometer. The refractive index sensitivity of the proposed sensing structure is -613.2183nm/RIU. The temperature sensitivity of this sensor is 11.4 pm/℃for FBG and 29.04 pm/℃for Michelson interferometer, respectively.
