Preparation and Characterization of Porous CNTs@Fe-C Pellets
View through CrossRef
Iron-carbon internal electrolysis method is an effective and low cost way for treating organic wastewater, but it will generate rust connection which leads failure. In order to solve the problem, CNTs have been in situ synthesized within the porous Fe-C pellets using acetone as carbon source, prepared porous CNTs@Fe-C pellets. The effects of temperature and acetone amount on the quality of CNTs in porous CNTs@Fe-C pellets have been studied. The as-prepared porous CNTs@Fe-C pellets were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results have shown that the porous CNTs@Fe-C pellets are composed of carbon nanotubes, sponge iron and activated carbon. The proper condition that conducive to the growth of CNTs is at 700 ℃ and the ratio of acetone and porous Fe-C pellets is 3ml/g. The growth mechanism of CNTs in the pellets is for top growth model.
