Boat sinking

View through Europeana Collections
Pino Pascali was associated with minimalism and the Italian Arte Povera movement. In his work, he used everyday natural and unorthodox materials. In the mid-1960s, he created "fake sculptures," which appear as solid constructions but are actually three-dimensional canvases of various shapes, whose forms suggest animals, elements of nature and anatomical elements. An example of such work is "Sinking Boat," which belongs to and is displayed in the permanent collection of MOMus - Museum of Contemporary Art. The representation, on an almost real scale, of a white boat sinking is a poetic reconstruction of reality in a simple yet dramatic manner.
