Abstract
Background Ectopic pregnancy is one of the most dangerous conditions that significantly impact a woman's health and fertility, necessitating swift diagnosis and early effective intervention, and aim of this study is to determine the incidence rate of ectopic pregnancy among patients at Al-Qutaifah National Hospital, as well as to investigate the localization, symptoms, risk factors, and treatment methods associated with ectopic pregnancy.
Methods and materials: A retrospective study design was employed, involving the collection of patient-related information, detailed clinical histories, procedures undertaken, and outcomes achieved, all documented in a specialized form, the study was conducted in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Al-Qutaifah National Hospital, the study spanned a period of 9 months, from December 1, 2022, to August 1, 2023.
Results: The study revealed an ectopic pregnancy incidence rate of 2.5%. The most common location for ectopic pregnancy was the fallopian tube, accounting for 80% of cases. A common risk factor for ectopic pregnancy occurrence was a history of prior surgical procedures or cesarean section. As for symptoms, all patients exhibited amenorrhea accompanied by vaginal bleeding and discharge of bloody material
Conclusion: The study was conducted on ectopic pregnancy, its placement and risk factors, as the study included 800 patients, 20 of whom suffered from ectopic pregnancy, with a rate of 2.5%, and the placement in the fallopian tubes was the most frequently seen, One of the most important risk factors associated with an ectopic pregnancy is having a previous cesarean section or pelvic surgery, Patients with ectopic pregnancy suffer from amenorrhea and bloody vaginal discharge with changes in the value of the human reproductive development.
