Myth Salon With Dyane Sherwood: The Prescient Themes of the Splensor Solis

This reflection summarizes the main points of two online presentations given by Dyane Sherwood for the Myth Salon on the alchemical illuminated manuscript, the Splendor Solis. Sherwood based her presentations on the book she co-authored with Joseph Henderson entitled "Transformation of the Psyche: The Symbolic Alchemy of the Splendor Solis." The 22 richly painted pictures in this volume show in symbolic form the inner process of psychic transformation. In addition to illustrating the process of individuation as described by Jung, these medieval alchemists were also concerned with elevating nature and the human body, and emphasizing the position of the feminine as equal to the masculine.
