DNA replikasyonu, hücrelerdeki genom DNA'sının kopyalandığı süreçtir. Bir hücre bölünmeden önce, ilk olarak tüm genomunu kopyalar, ortaya çıkan her yavru hücre ana hücre genomuna sahip olur. Replikasyon sonrası ana DNA molekülü ile tüm nukleotid dizisi tamamen aynı olan yeni bir DNA molekülü ortaya çıkar. Böylece DNA da taşınan genetik bilgi her replikasyon ile dölden döle aktarılır. Ökaryotik hücrelerde DNA replikasyonu mitoz veya mayoz bölünmeye hazırlanan hücrelerin hücre döngüsünün sentez fazında gerçekleşir
