The Swedish poplar with St. Mary’s Church and official tower of Wittstock, which was felled in 1903. This photograph of Paul Donnerhack also served as a postcard motif.
According to tradition, the tree is meant to designate the place where Swedish commander Johan Banér, after the victorious Battle of Wittstock in 1636, spoke with his officers a prayer of thanks.
