I, Jean Seberg
View through CrossRef
In "I, Jean Seberg," author/filmmaker Mark Rappaport (director of Rock Hudson's Home Movies [see FQ vol. 49, no. 4]), discusses how he came to make his film, From the Journals of Jean Seberg. The essay includes anecdotes that he unearthed about Seberg after he had completed the film, as well as the original miniessays he wrote while preparing for it—about Jane Fonda, Clint Eastwood, Joan of Arc, Lilith, Godard and Gorin's Letter to Jane, and the Kuleshov effect. Parts of these essays were used, in a different form, in the final film. If you didn't see From the Journals of Jean Seberg, this essay might make you want to. If you saw the film and liked it, you'll love this piece.
