A szetu gasztrokultúra szókincséről

On the vocabulary of Seto gastronomy The South Estonian Seto minority is unique among Estonians. They are Orthodox, while the Estonians are Lutherans. Their homeland, Setomaa, is not a culturally homogeneous area as it is located at the crossroads of dif- ferent countries and cultures. This can be shown in their food culture as well. In my article, I briefly analysed the Seto food culture and its vocabulary. I presented fifteen foods and drinks which have unique names in the Setu vocabulary. These may be words of internal origin (e.g. tablonka) or Russian loans (e.g. handsa) that have not spread in other Estonian dialects, although the dish itself may be known by another name in Estonian or even Russian gastronomy.
