A Conversation With Joseph A. Meyer

Joseph A. Meyer, recipient of the STA 2022 Kalff-Bradway Award for service in sandplay therapy, is interviewed by Olivia Heathcote. He is a past member of the Sandplay Therapists of America (STA) board of trustees. He is also a founding member of the Minnesota Sandplay Therapy Group (MSTG) where he served as Treasurer and President. Joseph Meyer was part of the group who planned and carried out the first national sandplay therapy conference in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1989. He was instrumental in MSTG and STA becoming nonprofit organizations. In this interview he recalls his childhood at his parents' farm, his early work as sandplay therapist as well as his extensive work and involvement with clients, teaching and training sandplay therapists in various states as well as participating in sandplay conferences and congresses—nationally and internationally.
