Unravelling Rakta Dushti Pathogenesis - A Brihatrayi Analysis

View through CrossRef
Ayurveda's Rakta Dushti, or vitiation of blood tissue, is the root cause of Pradoshaja Vikara, which includes skin conditions, inflammation, and bleeding. This narrative review gathers information from Samhitas, commentaries, and databases in order to analyse Nidana (etiology) and Samprapti (pathogenesis) from Brihatrayi texts. Nidana mainly aggravates Ranjaka Pitta and includes lifestyle (Atapa sevana, Krodha, Vega Vidharana), dietary factors (Amla-Lavana Rasa, Kulattha-Masha, Madya), and Sharad Ritu influence. Through Prakopa, Prasara, Sthana Samshraya in Twak, Vyakti (Daha-Raga), and Bheda stages—with Dushta Rakta Lakshanas differing by Dosha—Samprapti advances from Dosha Sanchaya in Yakrit-Pleeha. Established Vikara is addressed by Raktamokshana, whereas Nidana Parivarjana stops advancement. Results emphasize the need to avoid etiological factors for comprehensive treatment by connecting classical pathophysiology to contemporary inflammatory disorders.
