Dynamic protection and development research of Yangzhou traditional Garden leading by the Grand Canal culture

Abstract In this globalized world, the regional characteristics and diversity of culture began to weaken. Traditional garden as a carrier manifestation directly has link with regional culture, it plays an important role of regional culture. Yangzhou provides favorable conditions to reform and develop gardens because of its unique landscape formation and developed region’s salt merchants economic. Yangzhou is developing with the Grand Canal, so that Yangzhou Gardens have direct link to the Grand Canal, where holds distinct regional characteristics. After being listed in the “World Heritage”, Yangzhou traditional gardens become an important part of dynamic culture heritage. This paper describes the impact of Grand Canal culture to the formation of Yangzhou traditional garden with the canal ecological corridor culture as the axis, the “Dynamic” protection for the core. At the same time, with point, line, surface combined to construct traditional garden protection system, to explore new ideas of inheritance and development of traditional gardens.
