In the underground, Berkman and his comrades tried to answer U.S. imperial and racist actions with non-lethal bombings they thought of as armed propaganda. They learned to stockpile weapons and bombing equipment, and found eight governmental sites to target. To raise funds to support themselves, Berkman participated in a pharmacy robbery in Connecticut. After two and half years, Berkman and all his comrades were captured by the FBI.
