L. F. Marsigli Danubiusának kiadástörténete és magyarországi recepciója

The aim of this study is to examine L. F. Marsigli’s Danubius Pannonico-mysicus from the point of view of book history. I will review all the publications that were produced in connection with the decades-long research project Danubius (prodromes, translations, independent illustrated volumes, map albums), and discuss the publication variants that were discovered. In the second half of the paper, I will examine the provenance of the volumes in the territory of historical Hungary. This pattern explains the relatively delayed reception of the work in domestic research: most of the copies were brought to the country in the second half of the 19th century, a smaller number in the late 18th century and at the turn of the century, usually in connection with library foundations or planned collections of Hungarica. I will focus in particular on the Transylvanian copies, since during the 18th century that was the only place in Hungary where the Danubius was referred to.
