Impromptu balear (part 2)

View through Europeana Collections
Documentary promoting tourism in the Balearic Islands directed by Catalan director Francesc Rovira Beleta (1912-1999). In line with the promotional reports boosted by the Organization for the Promotion of Mallorca's Tourism, this documentary goes over the most emblematic, typical places and activities in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. Dubbed in English and aimed at the British tourist market, this film displays a number of famous people who have made of the Balearic Islands their place of residence or, at least, visit them frequently. Among these personalities, we can place emphasis on the writer Camilo Jose Cela, one of Palma's residents (in the neighborhoods of El Terreno and Bonanova) since 1954; English poet Robert Graves, settled in Deia since 1929 (with a break during the Spanish Civil War), the American painters John Ulbricht (Galilea, Puigpunyent) and Ritch Miller (Santa Maria del Cami), Canadian actor Christopher Plummer, assiduous visitor to Mallorca, and many others, mainly from the world of culture and the arts. Some of them offer their vision of the Islands and explain what seduced them: sun, sea, scenery, culture, gastronomy, handicrafts, etc.
