Abstract
1977 Competitive Research Fellowships in Hemophilia. Researchers in genetics, orthopedics, mental health, biochemistry, hematology, dentistry, physical rehabilitation, and other disciplines relating to hemophilia are eligible to compete for 1977 postgraduate fellowships, the National Hemophilia foundation has announced.
The Foundation is currently accepting applications from a broad spectrum of postdoctoral researchers investigating aspects of classic hemophilia, hemophila B (Christmas disease), or von Willebrand's disease. Preference is given to studies that would further the understanding and improve the management of these disorders. The voluntary health agency has just awarded three 1976–1977 fellowships totalling $37,500 to two biochemists and a hematologist for their pioneering studies of the blood clotting mechanism.
The fellowships—intended to support the work of younger investigators interested in pursuing hemophilia-related research—are offered through medical and graduate schools on an annual basis for the academic year July 1, 1977 through June 30, 1978. Grants, up to $15,000 a year, are approved by the Foundation's Medical and Scientific Advisory Council after review by research panel.
