Russian Socialist Revolutionaries on Human Nature and the Formation of the “New Man” (Early 20th Century)

The article examines the views of Russian Socialist Revolutionaries of the early 20th century on the problem of human nature and the closely related issue of the formation of the “new man”. It is noted that the cataclysms that took place in the country and the world not only actualized reflection on this topic, but also sowed certain doubts about the possibility of a quick change in human nature for the better. Moreover, not so much the qualitative transformation of society as the comprehensive development of the individual, according to the Neo-Narodniks, gave hope for success in solving this difficult task.
