Percentage identity analysis of ITS1 and ITS2 in Ladybird Beetles (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae)
View through CrossRef
Abstract
Aphids are the preferred food of aphidophagous ladybird beetles, from the subfamily Coccinellinae distinguished by their attractive elytral colouring and size variety. We have firstly reported sequences of
C. sexmaculata
ITS1 (OQ179682.1), ITS2 (OQ179684.1) and
M. univitatta
ITS1 (OQ179683.1) on GenBank subsequently. On estimation of sequence similarity and percentage identity revealed the divergence between species belonging to other countries. The evolution of the internal transcribed spacer area should be better understood using this insight, which will enhance the value of the ITS as a credible marker in phylogenetic analyses for ladybird beetles. During this study, all protocols were standardized in the laboratory before proceeding, thus it will not be time-consuming for further studies.
