Abstract
Acoustical Properties: The acoustical and physical tonal characteristics of an instrument that affect its sound quality. Although the saxophone is considered a woodwind instrument, it is also commonly referred to as a “hybrid” instrument because is shares characteristics of both brass and woodwind instruments. Specifically, it is made of brass and has a conical instrument tube; however, the vibration of a single reed produces the sound and the key design is similar to other woodwind instruments. These design characteristics result in a Flexible sound that blends well with both brass and woodwind instruments. 9is inherent Flexiblity enables the saxophone to adapt to a wide range of musical styles and ensemble settings.
