George Sand face à Maurice Sand : une collaboration problématique

George Sand always felt very close to her son. Since his birth he occupied a privi-leged place in her life. This is shown by the correspondence that both maintained, especially during Maurice’s childhood. After the trip to Mallorca in 1838 together with Solange, the writer’s daughter, and Chopin, her lover, Maurice lives in Nohant with his mother most of the time ever since. Very gifted in drawing, he collaborates with his mother on the illustrations of her complete works. That collaboration extends to writing. In the novels that Maurice writes we find the trace of his mother. Such is the case with Mademoiselle de Cérignan, a novel that is an example of their collaboration without a doubt.
