Antibody deficiencies

View through CrossRef
Antibody deficiencies comprise a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by a failure of antibody production and recurrent infections. They result from inherited or acquired disorders that lead to abnormalities in the development, maturation, and/or function of B-lymphocytes. Impaired functioning of B-cells leads to decreased immunoglobulin production, which manifests clinically as an increased susceptibility to infection. This chapter addresses the causes, clinical features, diagnosis, and management of antibody deficiencies.
