Exploring the Heritage of Baseball in South Korea

This chapter covers various topics related to baseball heritage in South Korea, ranging from history, culture, baseball heroes and their achievement, and stadium and museum. Given that Korean baseball was influenced by American and Japanese baseball, this chapter introduces the history of Korean baseball under the influence of American and Japanese baseball. Also, this chapter explains the unique culture (home-based system, cheers and chants, rivalry, etc.) and background (autocracy, post-colonial, the achievement in the international events, etc.) of Korean baseball, which makes the Korean baseball league more popular as of now. Lastly, this chapter demonstrates how the concept of a baseball stadium in Korea is gradually changing and the prospective challenge of Korean baseball regarding the Korean baseball museum for increasing the value of baseball heritage in South Korea.
