Résumé Professeur émérite des Universités, Armand Mattelart est une figure importante et originale dans le champ des études des médias : né en Belgique, formé en France et ayant exercé la première partie de sa carrière universitaire au Chili, il a consacré une grande partie de ses travaux (dont une partie ont été menés avec sa femme Michèle Mattelart) à la dimension mondiale de la communication et des médias. Ce chercheur engagé incarne par ailleurs, par son parcours, une recherche pour qui la critique est plus qu’un tour intellectuel de l’analyse mais bien un geste politique.
