Renaissance screen

View through Europeana Collections
The drawing shows an elevation of a wooden screen, spanning a Medieval opening in either a domestic or, less likely, an ecclesiastical context. The screen has four open round-headed arches on the upper storey, two on each side of a pedimented central arch which has at the spandrels two shields with coats of arms. The decoration and character are late-sixteenth or early-seventeenth century, in the Renaissance style, probably English.
