Case Study: The Shanghai Jinding Smart City

Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the development strategy for the Shanghai Jinding Smart City, with a particular emphasis on its advances in digital transformation and the application of AI technologies. Situated in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, Jinding aspires to establish a multi-functional urban environment that is conducive to living, working, and traveling. Leveraging its strategic geographic location and superior transportation infrastructure, Jinding aims to become a leading hub for next-generation communications and innovation. By integrating AI technology and drawing upon global smart city case studies, the Jinding community seeks to develop a replicable and scalable model for future urban development. In terms of intelligent perception of residents’ needs, Jinding has identified four levels of requirements through comprehensive analysis, providing a scientific foundation for urban planning. In the realm of intelligent construction, it has adopted an intelligent space model to optimize resource allocation and enhance the efficiency of urban management and services. Through nine AI application scenario demonstrations, Jinding showcases the deep integration and practical applications of intelligent life, business, and transportation, thereby promoting comprehensive smart city development.
