Charles Nodier: The Romantic Librarian

Charles Nodier (1780-1844), famous French writer and librarian, rose to the acme of his career during his tenure as the director of the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal in Paris. Although his name is frequently associated with the French romantic movement, it is very seldom associated with library science. Following the path of Nodier's accomplishments provides ample opportunity for a discussion of his contributions to the field of library science.
