View through Europeana Collections
The drawing shows the back of the mitre, with part of the pendants attached by hinges, and the whole crosier with its staff. The mitre is of thin silver gilt decorated with flowers composed of seed pearls and inset with precious and semiprecious stones. The crosier is made of silver gilt. In the crook is a depiction of the Annunciation. Below this, at the top of the staff, is a canopied structure with niches holding the figures of saints, the Trinity, and the Virgin. Both objects have enamelled inscriptions giving the date 1418, and mentioning Cornelius O'Dea, the bishop who commissioned them.
