Preliminary studies on Acrididae (Orthoptera) of Khairpur district, Sindh Pakistan

Acrididae are commonly called as true grasshoppers. An extensive field surveys were conducted from diverse agricultural zones of district Khairpur Mirs during the month of August 2021 to November 2021. A total of 550 samples were captured and identified into single family Acrididae with 03 subfamilies i-e: Oxyinae, Spathosterinae and Acridinae and 03 genera Oxya, Acrida, Spathosternum and 04 species viz: Spathosternum prasiniferum, Acrida exaltata, Oxya velox and Oxya hyla. The present study is preliminary approach to Acrididae of Khairpur Sindh, it will be helpful for taxonomists dealing with Acrididae fauna of this region.
