THE INITIAL ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECT OF THE HERBAL MEDICINE “NGUU SAM TRA” IN TREATING SYMPTOMS OF DYSLIPIDERMIA

Background: Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for atherosclerosis and a cause of many cardiovascular diseases. Treatment of symptoms of dyslipidemia will limit the development of atherosclerosis and prevent its complications and consequences. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of the herbal medicine “Nguu sam tra” on some clinical and sub-clinical indicators of patients with symptoms of the primary dyslipidemia and adverse effects of the herbal medicine. Materials and Methods: the clinical trial on 30 patients diagnosed as the primary blood lipid disorder and used the treatment protocol of 30 days with “Nguu sam Tra” by oral administration. Results: Rates of reduction of CT, TG and LDL-C were 24.28%, 39.7% and 20.04%, respectively. HDL-C increaseed 18.3%. Effective treatment at good, fair good and average level accounted for 17% , 60% and 23%, consecutively. Indexes of urea, creatinine, ALT and AST change without statistical significance. Conclusion: The herbal medicine “Nguu sam tra” is to reduce blood lipid after 30 days of treatment.
