Lexical solidarities
View through CrossRef
In the present study, developing Walter Porzig's ideas about essential semantic relations, Eugeniu Coseriu examines in depth the dependence of meaning that exists between certain words that form lexical pairs. It shows how a certain class, a certain archilexem or lexeme is included in the content of the word as a differential or integrative feature (lexem: archilexem, class: clasem). E. Coseriu regards these oriented semantic relations as solidarity. Lexical solidarity is defined as a semantic determination of the word using class, archilexem or lexeme. Deepening the study, E. Coseriu differentiates between several types of lexical solidarity.
