Neck Amphora (storage vessel): Dionysos and maenad; satyr and maenad

Side A: On the left, a bearded Dionysos faces right, holding a drinking horn in both hands. Opposite the god stands a maenad with a pitcher in her right hand. Twisting ivy wreaths decorate the background including the space between both figures. Side B: On the left, a satyr chases a maenad, running to the right. The maenad, looks back at the satyr while fleeing right. The satyr holds a pigskin on his back while lifting his left arm towards the maenad. His abdominal muscles are carefully rendered and his red beard is indicated with added red. The maenad bends her left arm, resting on her hip, and raises her right arm to the breast. She wears a long chiton and red band in her hair. A twisted ivy wreath appears between the two figures. Neck amphora with double-reeded handles, flared lip, and convex foot. On each side are red, figural panels bordered on four sides by decorative bands. A band of palmettes surrounds the neck.
