Luteolin promotes fracture healing via Neuropilin-1-mediated angiogenesis-osteogenesis coupling in inflammatory conditions

View through CrossRef
Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease, which occurs due to optic nerve damage by increase in intra ocular pressure (IOP). Present report evaluates the protective effectof Leonurine against glaucoma. Network pharmacology study was performed to estimate the interaction of Leonurine with the protein targets of glaucoma. Laser light was exposed to induce glaucoma in rats and Leonurine (15 mg/kg i.p.) was administered for the duration of seven days. IOP was observed for 7 consecutive days and oxidative stress and cytokine level were determined in glaucoma rat model. There was significant reduction in IOP of Leonurine treated group than glaucoma group of rats. Treatment with Leonurine ameliorates the altered parameter of oxidative stress and cytokine level in the glaucoma rats. In conclusion, data of investigation reveals that treatment with leonurine reduces IOP and oxidative stress by regulating the expression of BDNF and HIF-α protein in glaucoma rats.
