Injury surveillance has for many years been considered fundamental to injury prevention in sport (van Mechelen et al. 1992; van Mechelen 1997; Finch 2006). The seminal paper by van Mechelen and colleagues in 1992 described a sequence for achieving injury prevention in sport, with injury surveillance typically being the fundamental first step behind the injury prevention process. Despite this observation, there has been little agreement about the best methodology for injury surveillance and few published examples in the literature of long-term multi-recorder reliable injury surveillance systems....
