The Effects of Corporal Punishment on Students` Academic performance at Elementary level in District Khairpur

This study traces the consequences of corporal punishment on students' academic performance at elementary levels, specifically for Taluka FaizGanj, District Khairpur. The objectives were achieved employing a mixed-method; data were collected through questionnaires from 120 teachers, interviews with 10 participants in total, including 3 school heads, 3 parents, and 4 teachers. Study found that corporal punishment cause considerable behavioral issues and psychological distress, diminished motivation, and decreased involvement in class, and ineffective student-teachers relationship that collectively effect students' academic performance. The research has concluded that corporal punishment goes a long way toward affecting the psychological well-being and academic performance of all children. The study recommended that policies to refrain from corporal punishment be formulated, teachers must be trained about effects of corporal punishment on students’ behavior and psychology that consequently affects on students achievement, and community stakeholders be aware to create a friendly environment to motivate children for promoting literacy ratio.
