Hüssener, Auguste: Four portraits of commanders of the Napoleonic Wars
View through Europeana Collections
Four breast images in two rows on one leaf: Commander of the Liberation Wars, stabbed after unknown presentation by Auguste Hüssener, the portraits in uniform and with orders.
These are:
Unknown commander (top left),
Jean Baptiste Bernadotte (1763-1844), Swedish commander-in-chief of the Allied Northern Army, 1818-1844 as Karl XIV Johann, King of Sweden (top right),
August, Prince of Prussia (1779-1843), Prussian general (bottom on the left),
Gebhard Gebecht Fürst Blücher von Wahlstatt (1742-1819), Prussian general field marshal (bottom on the right).
Unfortunately, the connection in which the portraits were published could not be determined. The depicted are related in their directions of view, so the leaves were not cut, but formed a leaf sequence in this size. This is far more difficult to prove than books. State pressure before full writing.
Old stock of the Märkisches Museum.
