Photographing microsurgery—still and dynamic techniques

View through CrossRef
AbstractPhotographic documentation has come to play an important role in the teaching of and research in microsurgery. Although microsurgical recording shares with conventional surgical recording such considerations as photographic technique and the maintenance of a sterile field, there are several additional problems peculiar to photographing microsurgery. Setting up the microscope to guarantee sharp focus on the film plane is crucial to obtaining high quality results, and the use of a high‐intensity light source is equally important. The different media of still photography, motion pictures, and video recording all have advantages, and the physician must judge which method best suits his needs.
