Sexuality on the Move

In this chapter from her book The Politics of Passion, Gloria Wekker explores the ways in which that mati work is on the move transnationally. Taking women’s lives as points of departure, it addresses the question of how Afro-Surinamese women who engage in same-sex and opposite-sex relationships have participated in sexual globalization. Sexual globalization describes the various ways in which the rapid flow of capital, people, goods, images, and ideologies across national boundaries, continuously draws more of the world into webs of interconnections that structure the domain of sexuality.
