AbstractWell after the canon of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament was closed, Jewish scribes continued to compose stories about events set during the biblical period. It was common practice to write under a pseudonym, typically a biblical figure of renown (e.g., Adam, Baruch, or Enoch). Pseudepigraphy is thus “a reverse form of plagiarism”; it denotes that a text is falsely attributed to an ancient authority, even though it was composed long after the life of its alleged author.
