Secvențe din Muzeul Satului. Casa Dumitra (1971)
View through Europeana Collections
In the picture is the house belonging to the household in the village of Dumitra, Alba County, built in the early nineteenth century and integrated into the museum in 1957, typical of the Târnave Plateau and the peasants “jeleri” (free peasants, but with little land). The household is composed of the house, the corn basket and the fencing from the shades under straw eaves, with two access gates. The dwelling house preserves in the constructive system the old fence technique from the “clay panes” which form the skeleton of the construction, under a roof with covers of “jipi” (snopi) wheat. The plan of the house includes a land where the oven is found with “bog” (ingenious construction from the woods glued with clay that protected the thatched roof from the fires) and the living room heated by a stove with cahle and hob to prepare food. The gate made of solid wood and conical shingle roof is decorated by carving with ancient motifs (solar symbol in various variants, sawtooth teeth). The nightmare, built of braided shades, supported on wooden soles, is covered with straw.
