A new word in the study of the Soviet‑Yugoslav conflict of 1948–1953

The article is an analysis of the monograph prepared by the team of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The publication is timed to the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the Soviet‑Yugoslavia conflict of 1948–1953. and contains a comprehensive review of the first internal conflict in the socialist bloc. The author analyzes the essays included in the monograph and comes to the conclusion that the Soviet‑Yugoslav conflict had a great influence on the formation of relations between the countries of the socialist bloc. He led to the suppression of ideological dissent and forced national leaders to unconditionally subordinate to the USSR. Having managed to achieve formal manifestations of the unity of the socialist countries, Moscow provoked in them an internal, latent criticism of socialism. Eventually in the 1950–1960's. this led to a wave of anti‑Soviet protests in the socialist countries of Eastern Europe.
