Workbook No 120103021 in the name of Jaroslav Kalous was issued by the district office of Labor Protection in Kolín. Workbooks served to record working persons. Artificial unemployment was maintained in Czechoslovakia, because not working was punishable, so even according to the work book, police officers could recognize “criminal elements.” The truth is that opponents of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia were often unable to obtain any skilled work and therefore had to work in various places as heaters, cleaners, etc.
