Fan with lithographic design, paper, made in France, ca. 1855. Fan made of paper with a coloured lithographic design. The sticks are of papier mache, black with formal gold rococo type scrolls surrounding a floral spray enriched with tinted mother of pearl. The brass metal pin has a mother of pearl washer. Coloured lithographic design of a central vignette in which a group of men and women are seated wearing pseudo early 18th century dress. The sides are heavily printed and impressed in rococo type design in gold. Depicts central vignette of three young women in mid 19th century dress standing around a small girl in a yellow dress with a wide brimmed matching hat. There is a gold printed design at each side. Lithographed and hand watercoloured paper, with lacquered papier mache sticks and brass metal pin.
