Christoph Christian Sturm był osiemnastowiecznym duchownym niemieckim żywo zainteresowanym wiedzą przyrodniczą. Jako pastor wykorzystywał tę wiedzę do celów teologicznych: ludzie mogą i powinni wzmacniać swoją wiarę, badając Boże dzieła w przyrodzie, aby zobaczyć wyraźne znaki Jego mądrości, mocy i opatrzności odciśnięte w tych dziełach.
