GEN PAUL (1895-1975) : A Master of French Expressionism

Gen Paul can be considered the first proper French Expressionist. In the artistic melting pot that is Montmartre in the 1920s, Gen Paul will draw inspiration from painters as diverse as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Juan Gris, but also his contemporaries such as Jean Dufy, Maurice de Vlaminck or Utrillo in order to create his own manner, dynamic and free.
