The acetolysis of two 3-(2'-methylenecyclohexyl)propyl derivatives (the p -nitrobenzenesulphonate and bromide) provides a π-route to 9-decalyl cations which, on the basis of the composition of the products, are very similar to those formed from 4-(cyclohex-1'-enyl)but-1-yl derivatives.
