Cover:The cathodic shielding phenomenon which is caused by a metal barrier is studied by numerical simulation approach in sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems. The model predicts that the mass transfer resistance between the sacrificial anode and the cathodically protected component can promote the cathodic shielding phenomenon. The numerical results are critically analyzed and validated well by the experiments. This work indicates that critical analysis of the results, verification of the validity of the theoretical models used and comparison with experiments correlate closely with each other in the numerical simulation approach. And experimental re‐verification and numerical re‐prediction can make improvements in the mathematical models and the computer simulation programs. Furthermore, the numerical simulation approach makes it possible to predict the existence of cathodic shielding of complex structures in cathodic protection systems and further help to optimize the cathodic protection design.More detailed information can be found in: G.
Furthermore, the numerical simulation approach makes it possible to predict the existence of cathodic shielding of complex structures in cathodic protection systems and further help to optimize the cathodic protection design.
