Makna Pembacaan Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra bagi Umat Buddha Vihara Lalitavistara Jakarta

View through CrossRef
Puja bhakti is a Buddhist routine that is carried out to read Buddha's teachings, listen to Buddha's teachings, and carry out meditation. The Buddhists of the Lalitavistara Temple in Jakarta also carry out puja bhakti in the morning, afternoon and evening. When performing devotional service, people always recite the Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra. The Sutra contains Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's sermon on the contemplation of the five skhandhas that are impermanent and are always afflicted with suffering. The Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra also explains the concepts of sunya (emptiness) and sunyata (emptiness). It is further explained that Bodhisattvas attain Buddhahood by practicing dhyana and believing in prajna paramita.            The research carried out aims to determine the meaning of the people when reading the Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. So that the data obtained are satisfactory, the authors carry out observations, interviews, and documentation so that the data obtained are accurate. The researcher also sought information from other secondary sources such as articles and books related to the Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra.            The results of the research on the meaning of the Lalitavistara Buddhists towards the reading of the Prajna Paramita Hrdaya Sutra are that people feel peaceful, comfortable, calm, and feel blessed when reading the sutra. In addition, people also read this sutra when carrying out the devolution of services to ancestors or people who have died. The obstacle for the Lalitavistara Buddhist community is that this sutra has not been explained in detail so that there are still people who do not know its meaning and significance.
