Mooring summary 1967
View through CrossRef
This report lists the moorings set in the 1967 which were not included in the "Surface Moorings, a Review of Performance" by H. Bertequx (1968). It includes 5 gasoline float moorings, 15 subsurface mooring and 5 surface morrings. The gasoline floats were set at two sites designed to be under the main axis of the Gulf Stream. With the exception of one morring set on the shelf, one on the continental slope, and six in the Denmark Strait, all the moorings were set close to Site D at 39°20'N, 70°00'W. The moorings are listed in two formats; one is a brief description of the mooring, the other is a more detailed drawing of the sequence of the elements of the mooring. Other information about the mooring is contained in the original sources such as the mooring log sheets. Reference is made to the instruments recovered from the mooring but no comment is made with respect to the quality of'the data recorded by the instruments. Moorings 221, 223 and 227-230 were set by a different group in the Denmark Strait and are also included in this summary. All, six of these were subsurface moorings set for 40 days. Only two of these moorings were recovered.
