Pengaruh Harga Streaming terhadap Permintaan Lagu “Sunset Boulevard” pada Platform Musik Digital Populer

Abstract. The development of the digital music industry has transformed music consumption patterns from physical ownership to access-based streaming services. This transformation has affected demand formation mechanisms and musicians’ income, particularly independent musicians who rely heavily on streaming numbers as an indicator of demand. This study aims to analyze the effect of effective streaming prices on the demand for the song “Sunset Boulevard” by the independent band Sun Grass Roots on Spotify, YouTube Music Official Content, and Apple Music during the 2020–2021 period. This research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data in the form of streaming counts and platform subscription prices. The analysis method applied is simple linear regression based on microeconomic demand theory, with data processing conducted using STATA software. The results indicate that effective streaming prices have a negative effect on the number of streams across all platforms, consistent with the law of demand. However, the level of significance and the magnitude of the price effect vary across platforms. Spotify exhibits higher demand sensitivity to price changes, while Apple Music and YouTube Music show relatively weaker price effects. These findings suggest that digital song demand is platform-specific and influenced not only by price factors but also by non-price factors such as recommendation algorithms and service characteristics. Abstrak. Perkembangan industri musik digital telah mengubah pola konsumsi musik dari kepemilikan fisik menuju layanan streaming berbasis akses. Perubahan ini berdampak pada mekanisme pembentukan permintaan serta pendapatan musisi, khususnya musisi independen yang sangat bergantung pada jumlah streaming sebagai indikator permintaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh harga efektif layanan streaming terhadap permintaan lagu digital “Sunset Boulevard” karya Sun Grass Roots pada platform Spotify, YouTube Music Official Content, dan Apple Music selama periode 2020–2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan data sekunder berupa jumlah stream dan harga langganan platform streaming. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linier sederhana berdasarkan teori permintaan dalam ekonomi mikro, dengan pengolahan data menggunakan perangkat lunak STATA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa harga efektif streaming berpengaruh negatif terhadap jumlah stream pada seluruh platform. Namun, tingkat signifikansi dan besaran pengaruh harga berbeda antar platform. Spotify menunjukkan sensitivitas permintaan yang lebih tinggi terhadap perubahan harga, sedangkan pada Apple Music dan YouTube Music pengaruh harga relatif lebih lemah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa permintaan lagu digital bersifat platform-specific dan dipengaruhi pula oleh faktor non-harga seperti algoritma rekomendasi dan karakteristik layanan.
