ELIXIR industry engagement

ELIXIR’s Industry Strategy aims to incentivise the use of ELIXIR resources and services to enable open innovation across research intensive industries in Europe. Public databases play a crucial role for large multinational companies and are vital to the existence of many Small to Medium-sized Enterprises as showcased in the 2018 ELIXIR report entitled ‘Public data resources as a business model for SMEs’. ELIXIR’s purpose is to build a reliable bioinformatics infrastructure to reduce risk and facilitate sustainable scientific research of highest quality. To provide adequate industry support, ensure effective communication and build effective partnerships between industry and ELIXIR, the individual ELIXIR Nodes are of utmost importance. Therefore it is crucial to the success of the programme to define a concise strategy how to ensure ELIXIR Nodes can effectively support and engage with companies. Current approaches to increase the interaction of ELIXIR and industry partners are the Innovation and SME programme, delivering specialised events with industry relevant topics and industry training courses.
